Peony Season Begins!

Hello June! And hello, peonies! In the blink of an eye, we're out in the fields every couple of hours sweeping through the rows in search of the perfect bloom, not quite open and just slightly squishy and sticky to the touch. It's a fleeting window and we sure don't wanna miss it! Usually we find a couple ants hitching a ride on our blooms, as peony buds secrete a sweet nectar that draws ants in. They repay the favor by chasing off other pests making them great, natural little bodyguards. Nature does it best. Get ready for some beautiful CSA bundles this week as peonies make their debut.
Alongside the peony harvest, we've been making a mad dash to get the rest of the dahlias in the ground. June has barely started and we're already filling the cooler being a very good sign of what's ahead. We've also been noticing all kinds of bees moving through the fields lately with their pollen pockets full and heavy. It's a good reminder that we're not the only ones enjoying the abundance out there as our pollinators are hard at work too.
Last Saturday at Rustic Roots Winery was such a good time watching you all put together your own creations at the flower bar. There will be plenty more chances to get your hands on some blooms — and if you have an event you'd love us to be part of, reach out! We have flowers to share.
On the horizon, next week the Scandia Farmers Market kicks off, running 3–6pm. Come out and support your local farmers and small businesses. This is the season of abundance, and there's no better way to soak it in than showing up for your community!
