Heat Wave

We wished for the heat and oh, did it answer. A little reminder to keep yourself and your plant babies well-watered as the days stretch long and golden this week.

All this warmth is working its magic. Growth has been impressive, and if you look closely, you'll catch the very first whispers of our peonies beginning to bud. Harvesting these beauties feels almost within reach now and when it's time, you'll know by the Marshmallow Rule: give the bud a gentle squeeze, and if it yields like a marshmallow, she's ready.

Our first blooms will be Paula Faye and Coral Charm — two stunning expressions of everything we love about Spring.

And on the other side of the farm, the dahlias have begun their journey. We teased an ombré field a while back, and we're so happy to say it's happening! These lovelies won't open their petals until late Summer, but the groundwork is being laid with so much thought and care from our crew. This year's tuber storage in vermiculite and our cooler has been a quiet success as nearly all of them have woken up with that little "eye," the tiny promise of a dahlia yet to come.

We hope your Memorial Day weekend was peaceful and that the week has welcomed you back gently!
